NHMS Membership

Whether joining as a new member, renewing, or just contemplating membership in our organization, you have come to the right place.  We are the only organization that represents ALL New Hampshire physicians.

Who can join?

Physician Members shall be physicians, except as otherwise specifically noted, who are in good standing and who shall pay dues.  Only active members may vote at the General Session and hold office unless otherwise specified below.

Associate Members are physicians who are active members in another state medical society.  Associate members shall pay dues as determined by the Council.

Post-graduate Trainee Members include medical students, interns, residents or fellows who may or may not be licensed to practice medicine in New Hampshire. These are eligible to be post-graduate trainee members.  Such members shall not be required to pay dues.

Emeritus Members shall have been members in good standing of this Society or another state medical society for a period of at least 25 years and one or more of the following circumstances shall apply: full retirement from all medical employment, attainment of at least age 65 or full disability.

Honorary Members shall be persons in this or other states who have acquired honorable distinction in their profession and whom the Society wishes to acknowledge with membership.  A two-thirds vote of the Council shall be necessary for their election.  They shall not be required to pay dues.

Physician Assistant Members of this Society are those physician assistants who are licensed by the State Board of Medicine and are supervised by a physician who is a member of the Society.  Physician Assistant members shall pay dues as determined by the Council.

All officers, members of the Council shall be members in good standing of the state Society and shall be current in the payment of dues.

All membership is subject to Council approval.

Dues Structure

We offer a varied dues structure depending on your tenure in the profession. Recognizing that the beginning of a physician’s career can be most challenging, we offer complimentary membership for our medical students/residents and reduced membership fees for your first and second year membership as licensed physicians.

By participating in this program, your organization will have the opportunity to market its own products and services to the medical community throughout the state as well as to learn about their needs. Corporate affiliate membership starts at $1,500 per year.

The NHMS Council will approve or deny corporate affiliate program membership based on the following guidelines:

  1. The company’s product or service is
    1. deemed of potential interest to physicians on a personal or professional level
    2. consistent with the values and mission of the Medical Society
    3. not intrinsically harmful to or obstructive of the public health or welfare of physicians and/or patients
  2. The company’s marketing of products and services is not misleading or inconsistent with the values and mission of the Medical Society.
  3. Companies whose sole purpose or commonly recognized purposes are among the following will generally not be considered for membership: manufacturing of tobacco or related products; or the marketing of religious or political products or services.

NHMS Corporate Affiliate Program Members Receive:

  • After acceptance of membership – opening remarks to the NHMS council for 5-10 minutes to introduce your organization
  • The New Hampshire Physician magazine, which features corporate affiliate program members and contains information that New Hampshire’s medical community needs, including legislative, regulatory, coding, legal, practice management, continuing education and organizational updates.
  • The opportunity for one email per calendar year to full membership (facilitated by NHMS).
  • The opportunity to write articles for the magazine about your industry or other topics.
  • Advertising opportunities for print and digital media
  • The NHMS Pulse weekly e-newsletter, which contains an industry news section, as well as a Corporate Affiliate Program Member of the Week featuring your company twice a year, along with the opportunity to place e-newsletter panel and content ads. Our weekly update has an open rate above industry standards.

  • The opportunity to use the NHMS conference room to meet with NHMS members at no additional charge.

In accordance with IRS regulations as a nonprofit, NHMS will allow non-exclusive promotion of specific products or brands. There will be no direct benefit implied or guaranteed, related to increased use of your company’s products or services in direct patient care, in exchange for membership.
